East Winds are delighted to showcase the feature debut of Pedring Lopez, a stylish gothic horror that would showcase the visual flair and genre savvy of the then veteran commercial and music video director.
Daniel and Cynthia, a young urban chic couple with a child on the way, experience hard times in Manila and after some persuasion from family head back to the rural Baguio, where Daniel is originally from.
Through the kindness of Alex, Daniel’s well-to-do childhood friend, they get to stay in a large, albeit eerie house, rent-free and with the promise of a well-paid job, but it all seem too good to be true.
With everything falling into place for the family, events inevitably conspire, as a series of strange and unexplained events start to torment the heavily pregnant Cynthia.
With more than a touch of ‘Rosemary’s Baby’, Lopez takes his creepy premise in some surprising directions, but principally relishes the opportunity to showcase his flair for visual set-pieces, with frequent elaborate and creative jump-scares and set pieces.
A stylish entry into the Asian horror cycle, ‘Binhi The Seed’ would offer a first chance to see the genre stylings to come from Pedring Lopez.
A fair dose of breathtaking horror thorough five short stories which promise a full intensity ride.
Drama fantasy adaption of a traditional Vietnamese fairy tale, not unlike the story of Cinderella.
White-knuckle crime thriller with the hard-boiled undercover Special Forces police department.
