Dustin Tri Nguyen is the producer of the highest box office in Vietnam, “Long Ruoi”, as well as the script writer of the highest grossing romantic comedy to date in Vietnam, “De Mai Tinh”.
East Winds Film Festival was honoured to announce that Dustin Tri Nguyen would be arriving in Coventry for the European Premiere of his latest film, “Once Upon A Time in Vietnam”.
We had the honour of welcoming to Coventry the brilliant director of the record breaking “Pee Mak” – the multi-award winning Banjong Pisanthanakun.
An acclaimed director and scriptwriter, Pisanthanakun has been responsible for some of the breakout films from the horror genre of Thai cinema, including “Shutter” (2004) and “Phobia” (2008).
A rising name in Hong Kong cinema, Andrew Fung Chih-chiang has made the seamless move from being a successful in-demand script-writer to a director of note in a short space of time.
Fung’s latest film as both writer and director – “The Midas Touch” – is another example that Fung is a rare breed of Hong Kong filmmaker that can strike a balance between understanding genre sensibilities whilst maintaining a keen interest and understanding of local Hong Kong issues.
